Tiffany Hernandez-Broome
Hello, I’m Tiffany. I’m a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor, Registered Provisional Art Therapist, and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor. I’m also a lifelong artist — and I bring creativity into my therapy work whenever it serves my client. I approach therapy from an empathetic, strengths-based perspective, believing each person has their own unique experiences and qualities to bring to the table.
Because Being Human Can Be Challenging
I became a therapist because I understand that being a human can be challenging. I have personal experiences navigating life’s difficulties alongside loved ones who have worked through mental health concerns, substance use, and trauma.
Family systems and relationships have become a particular interest of mine. I believe so much of how we feel and how we struggle as adults traces back to the systems we grew up in — and that healing as an individual and supporting healthier relationship dynamics often go hand in hand.
My clients’ goals for therapy are what’s most important to me. I believe each person is unique, and that you are the expert on yourself. My job is to walk alongside you, ask good questions, and bring clinical experience and creativity to the work — not to tell you who you are or what you should be.

Three Disciplines, One Integrated Approach
My background brings together three areas that don’t always live under the same roof: counseling, art therapy, and addiction work. I hold a Master of Arts from Cedar Crest College and three credentials that reflect this integrated training — Licensed Associate Professional Counselor, Registered Provisional Art Therapist, and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
In practice, this means I can use traditional talk-based approaches when those serve my client best, bring creative and art-based interventions when words feel limited, and confidently work with substance use concerns alongside the mental health and trauma issues that often accompany them.
I have clinical experience working with behavioral disorders, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, trauma histories, self-esteem difficulties, family therapy, and more — across both group and individual settings. I work with adolescents 14+ and adults across Pittsburgh and all of Pennsylvania via telehealth.
Welcoming, Engaging, and Strengths-Focused
Clients can expect a welcoming, engaging, and empathetic approach to working together. I focus on each person’s unique strengths — the things that make you who you are — and explore how leveraging those strengths can benefit your life and the lives of the people you touch.
I approach therapy in a non-judgmental way, with positive regard for those I serve. That doesn’t mean we won’t talk about hard things — we will. It means we’ll talk about hard things from a stance of curiosity and respect, not from one where I’m sitting in judgment of who you are.
Art Therapy
Creative interventions for clients where words feel limiting or where visual processing offers something talk therapy can’t reach. Particularly useful for trauma, identity work, and emotional expression.
Strengths-Based
Therapy that starts from what’s working — your existing resources, resilience, and qualities — and builds outward. Most people are underestimating what they already have to work with.
Solution-Focused
Time-conscious, goal-oriented work that emphasizes what’s possible. Solution-focused therapy asks what’s already working and how to do more of that, rather than only excavating what’s broken.
Motivational Interviewing
A collaborative conversation style for working through ambivalence about change — particularly powerful in addiction work and any context where competing motivations are at play.
Behavioral Therapies
Evidence-based behavioral approaches matched to the specific concerns we’re working on — from anxiety to behavioral disorders to substance use patterns.
Trauma-Informed
Every approach I bring is grounded in trauma-informed principles — recognizing that pacing, safety, and choice matter as much as the technique itself.
Bringing Creativity to Clinical Work
Art therapy isn’t just a side specialty for me — it’s woven into how I think about people. Every client doesn’t need to make art with me. But every client benefits from a therapist who understands that healing isn’t always linear or verbal.
For clients who do want to incorporate art-based approaches, I can bring those tools. For clients who want pure conversation, that’s what we’ll do. Either way, the underlying philosophy is the same: meet you where you are, work with what you bring, and trust that there’s always more capacity for growth than people initially assume.
