Marnie Hall-Martin
Hi, I’m Marnie. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with more than 25 years in the mental health field as a clinician and an administrator. I work with adults who are navigating life transitions, challenges, and new beginnings, and I have a particular love for the twenties, a life stage full of questions about identity, relationships, career, and independence. I believe no one should have to move through a hard season alone.
No One Should Have to Navigate a Hard Season Alone
I became a counselor because I believe no one should have to navigate life’s difficult seasons alone. I am passionate about working with adults who are facing transitions, challenges, and new beginnings, whether that is a change in career, in a relationship, in identity, or in the direction your life is heading.
Therapy can offer a space to slow down, gain clarity, and reconnect with what matters most. That is really what most people are looking for when they reach out. Not a verdict on what they should do, but room to think clearly enough to know what they actually want.
It is a privilege to support clients as they move through uncertainty and build a life that feels more aligned and more fulfilling. After 25 years of doing this work, that part has never gotten old. I still feel rewarded by the honor of walking alongside someone while they figure it out.

25 Years as a Clinician and an Administrator
I have spent more than 25 years in the mental health field, working as both a clinician and an administrator. Earlier in my career, in inpatient and outpatient settings, I worked with children, adolescents, and adults. Here at Darin King Counseling, my caseload is adults only.
Those years across very different levels of care shaped how I sit with people now. I have seen what happens when someone is met with judgment and what happens when they are not, and I have learned that the second one is what actually moves things. So I provide a non-judgmental and supportive environment for every client to navigate challenges, build resilience, and work toward meaningful and sustainable change.
I hold a Master of Science in Counseling from California University of Pennsylvania, I am a fully licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and I am a National Certified Counselor (NCC). I see adults across Pittsburgh and all of Pennsylvania by telehealth.
Warm, Collaborative, and Built on What You Already Have
My approach is warm, collaborative, and supportive. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my job is to help you explore patterns, build confidence, and develop practical tools for meaningful change.
In practice that means I pull from several approaches rather than running one protocol on everyone. Some weeks call for skills and structure. Some weeks call for slowing down and making room for what is hard. Which one you need on a given day is something we figure out together.
Person-Centered
You set the direction. My role is to bring genuine regard and steady attention so you can hear your own thinking clearly, without someone else’s agenda laid over top of it.
Strengths-Based
Therapy that starts from what is already working. Most people arrive with far more resilience and resource than they are giving themselves credit for, and naming that is often the first real shift.
Solution-Focused
A practical, forward-looking approach that asks what you want more of and builds toward it, rather than spending every session excavating what went wrong.
Mindfulness and Acceptance-Based
Learning to be with difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them. Acceptance is not resignation. It is what frees up the energy you were spending on the struggle.
DBT
Dialectical Behavior Therapy for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal skills. Concrete tools for the moments that feel like too much.
CBT
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for noticing the thought patterns that drive how you feel and act, then testing them against what is actually true.
Room to Slow Down and Get Clear
Most people come to me in the middle of something. A job that ended, a relationship that changed, a loss, or just the slow realization that the life they built does not fit anymore.
We start by making room. Not rushing to a plan, not sorting you into a category, just getting the whole picture on the table without judgment. That part matters more than people expect, and it is often the first time someone has said all of it out loud.
From there we work on what you want to be different, and on the practical tools to get you there. You stay the expert on your life. I bring 25 years of experience sitting with people in exactly this kind of uncertainty, and the confidence that it does move.
