DBT Therapy
in Pennsylvania
Dialectical Behavior Therapy for emotional dysregulation, intense emotions, and trauma across Pennsylvania. Licensed PA therapists via secure telehealth statewide.
For When Emotions Feel Bigger Than You Can Handle
DBT — Dialectical Behavior Therapy — was designed for people whose emotional experience is intense, overwhelming, and difficult to regulate. If you’ve been told you’re ‘too sensitive’ or ‘too much,’ or if your emotions feel like they take over before you can stop them — DBT was built for you.
Originally developed for borderline personality disorder, DBT has since been proven effective for emotional dysregulation, trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and anyone who struggles with intense emotional experiences. At Darin King Counseling, we integrate DBT skills into individual therapy with a trauma-informed approach.
- Emotions that feel overwhelming and difficult to control — like being flooded
- Reacting in ways you later regret — in relationships, at work, with yourself
- Relationships that are intense, unstable, or painful despite your best efforts
- Difficulty tolerating distress without doing something to escape it
- A persistent sense of emptiness or not knowing who you are
- Self-destructive behaviors used to cope with unbearable emotional pain

Evidence-Based Treatment That Gets to the Root
At Darin King Counseling, we don’t just help you manage. We help you understand what’s actually driving your struggles — and change it at the root. Our trauma-informed approach looks beneath the surface at the experiences and patterns that shape how you feel and respond.
- All four DBT skill modules: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness
- Trauma-informed DBT for emotional dysregulation rooted in adverse experiences
- DBT for BPD, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and eating disorder recovery
- Individual DBT skills integration — not group DBT
- Available to all Pennsylvania residents via secure telehealth
The Four DBT Skill Modules
We draw from multiple evidence-based modalities tailored to your specific presentation and needs.
Mindfulness
The foundation of all DBT skills — learning to observe your thoughts and emotions without judgment, creating the space between feeling and reacting that makes everything else possible.
Distress Tolerance
Skills for surviving crises without making them worse — accepting reality as it is, self-soothing, and tolerating pain in the short term while working toward change in the long term.
Emotion Regulation
Understanding the function of emotions, reducing vulnerability to emotional flooding, and changing unwanted emotional experiences through opposite action and emotional awareness.
Interpersonal Effectiveness
Maintaining relationships and self-respect while asking for what you need — skills for navigating conflict, setting limits, and building connections that support rather than drain you.
