Jordan Futrell LSW

Bio:
Hi, I’m Jordan Futrell (he/him), a Licensed Social Worker who creates a supportive space where clients feel heard and valued. I view clients as the experts of their own experience and work together to explore what matters most to them. I’ve worked in the VA and community mental health agencies with clients facing depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, identity exploration, and relationship challenges. My goal is to help clients build resilience, practice self-compassion, and take meaningful steps toward living a life aligned with their values.
I love spending time outside with my golden retriever hiking. He also loves to swim, and being outdoors with him helps me recharge and feel balanced. Outside of work, I love listening to audiobooks, spending time with friends, engaging in advocacy, and being outdoors.
What inspired you to become a counselor?
I became a therapist because of my own experiences navigating life’s challenges. I understand how difficult it can feel to be stuck or overwhelmed, and I’m passionate about helping others find hope, build resilience, and take steps toward living the life they want.
What can clients expect when working with you?
I approach therapy through an anti-oppressive lens, validating clients’ difficult experiences while empowering them to learn and practice skills for managing life’s challenges. You can expect a supportive, nonjudgmental space where your experiences are honored and your growth is the focus.
What therapeutic approaches or modalities do you use?
I use approaches that help clients explore their values, build skills, and take meaningful action. My work incorporates strategies from acceptance-based therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, and cognitive-behavioral therapy, tailored to fit each client’s unique needs.
